Yemen is in a state of constant war, with hostilities between Ansar Allah (Houthi) and the Saudi-led coalition continuing with unprecedented ferocity.

Yemeni Houthi rebels claim to have shot down a US drone over the country’s northern border with Saudi Arabia.

The US military has lost drones in Yemen in the past. Last year, the Houthis claimed twice to have shot down US MQ-9 Reaper aircraft, which are armed with missiles.

Apart from this, on August 2, the Houthi press wing shared videos of recent attacks on Saudi forces and its allies. Videos (see map) show Houthi fighters destroying six armored personnel vehicles and armed trucks from Saudi Arabia in Yemen’s northern al-Jawf province and Najran province with anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs).

According to SouthFront, the Houthis used anti-tank missiles of Konkurs type, which were either supplied directly from Iran or captured by Saudi-backed forces in recent battles.

The Houthis have increased their operations along the border with Saudi Arabia in recent months as an act of retaliation to the intense coalition airstrikes by Saudi Arabia against Yemen (see map).

The Saudi-led coalition and its allies from Yemen have been trying to secure the border since the outbreak of war in 2015.

However, the Houthis continue to dominate the battlefield on the border, owing to broader knowledge and expertise on the ground as well as the application of superior tactics.
