The USA has supplied Israel with at least 100 long-range BLU-09 bombs, also known as “bunker busters”, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
A “bunker buster” is a type of munition designed to penetrate hard targets or targets buried deep underground, such as military bunkers.
In addition to sending more than 905 kilograms of bombs, the US has reportedly sent an additional 15,000 bombs of other kinds and 57,000 artillery shells worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
Pentagon officials refused to provide details on the munitions being sent to Israel.
At the start of the war on October 7, US Secretary of Defence, Lloyd Austin had announced that the US would reinforce Israel with additional ammunition and that the US military was in the process of strengthening its military presence in the Middle East.
One day after the collapse of the truce, Foreign Affairs Minister, Anthony Blinken, in his statements on Friday while in Dubai, appealed to protect civilians after the end of the short truce in Gaza.
