The US military announced Wednesday that it is grounding its fleet of CV-22 Ospreys as a precaution, following fatal crashes involving the hybrid aircraft. The latest crash in late November killed eight US servicemen in Japan.
The head of the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) has decided to suspend the flights of the aircraft, which have the ability to land vertically as helicopters and fly as airplanes, according to a press release issued by his agency. Another press release, from the marine corps, said that the grounding of the aircraft was decided as a precaution.
