The military effects of the Pandemic on a teleconference of the EU Defense Ministers
The military effects of the COVID-19 pandemic will be examined on Monday 06th of April by the Ministers of Defense of the EU Member States.
According to an announcement by the Press and Information Office, the Union’s Ministers of Defense will participate in a teleconference today at 4:00 pm Cyprus time in order to exchange views on the aforementioned issue.
In particular, the Ministers will take into account the assistance provided by the Member States’ armed forces on the national level to reduce the spread of the virus and examine the impact of the pandemic on EU missions and operations conducted in third countries, in the context of the Common Security and Defense Policy.
In addition to the above, a first approach to the long-term strategic implications that may arise due to the pandemic in the EU Security and Defense sector will be examined.
