TEKEVER, a Portuguese drone manufacturing company, has successfully completed an operational exercise with the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) in California.

As announced, the demonstration showcased TEKEVER’s advanced Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) technology, designed to support special operations missions.

The exercise focused on TEKEVER’s cutting-edge UAS platforms, which combine highly reliable hardware with artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. This combination enhances situational awareness, ensures rapid responsiveness, and strengthens resilience in electronically contested environments.

A key element of the TEKEVER AR3 UAS’ is its Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) capability. This allows it to operate without additional launch or recovery equipment, making it particularly effective for discreet operations in remote and challenging environments.

Designed to support a wide range of demanding land and maritime missions, this small UAS combines versatility, endurance, and ease of deployment, making it an ideal choice for Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance (ISTAR), as well as commercial operations.

If the mission requires extended flight endurance, the VTOL module can be removed, converting the AR3 into a fully functional fixed-wing system with a flight time of up to 16 hours. This modularity ensures mission adaptability without the need for multiple platform types.

With a wingspan of 3.5 meters and a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 25 kilograms, the AR3 VTOL is highly transportable and requires minimal logistics support. Its service ceiling of 3,600 metres Above Mean Sea Level (AMSL) and a cruise speed of 75-90 km/h make it suitable for a variety of challenging environments.

According to the manufacturer, the AR3 VTOL is the smallest UAS on the market to feature a high-performance, dual side-looking Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). This capability enhances its ability to conduct wide-area surveillance, border protection, maritime patrol, and infrastructure monitoring.

The AR3’s low acoustic and visual signature enhances its ability to conduct covert surveillance and reconnaissance. It also carries an interchangeable multi-sensor payload, including electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) cameras, radar, and Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) capabilities. For extended range operations, an optional Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) datalink is available, further expanding its operational range.

Moreover, the system’s reduced logistical footprint and quick assembly process ensure that operators can maintain high readiness with minimal effort. The aircraft’s rugged design and deployable parachute system protect onboard sensors during retrieval.

Last but not least, the common ground control system (GCS) used by the AR3, AR4, and AR5 enhances interoperability, enabling seamless coordination between multiple operators and platforms.
