“Rescue” operation of the Greek flag by a helicopter of the Cyprus Police

An impressive video that is going viral on social media shows the men of the Air Operations Unit (MAEP) of the Cyprus Police “rescuing” the Greek flag.

The flagpole was located on the islet off the coast of Sykia of Protaras in Paralimni, known as “Fig Tree Bay.” A MAEP member climbed down on the islet from the Unit’s helicopter and took the Greek flag, which had probably fallen due to strong winds.

Regarding the incident, a member of the mission wrote on social media:

“The flag of our country never touches the ground. It proudly waves in the air or sets close to the heart of the Greek. Its “rescue” and “preservation” are equally valued as human life because it has been marked with blood many times. Keep Cyprus strong; keep Greece strong”.
