The Hellenic Association of Entrepreneurs (E.EN.E.) organizes the 8th Economic Conference, in collaboration with leading bodies of Greek entrepreneurship and work, titled: “Re-Industrialization and Developing Skills: Building a Competitive and Resilient Economy.”
The open event will take place on Wednesday, November 13, at the Megale Bretagne hotel from 09:00 to 18:00. Leading representatives of Greek entrepreneurship, political and economic leadership, leading academics, and public opinion shapers will be present, along with a broad network of productive, business, and employer bodies and associations from the country who will participate and support the conference.
In the context of preparation, on Wednesday, October 30, E.EN.E. presented a comprehensive strategic plan to strengthen the Greek industry, focusing on improving productivity, strengthening competitiveness, and promoting sustainable development.
This strategy was evaluated independently by the Economic and Industrial Research Foundation (IOBE), which analyzed the proposed reforms and measures, identifying the positive effects they can have on business activity and the Greek economy as a whole, specifically assessing the direct or indirect impact on public revenues
Cooperation with Organizations and Objectives of the Conference
The Conference is a coordinated, collective effort that brings the cooperating agencies even closer, such as the Association of Greek Industries (SBE), or initiative ELLA-DIKAMAS, or ELLINIKI PARAGOGI, the Commercial and Chamber of Industry of Athens (EBEA), the Association of Industries of Central Greece, and the Association of Greek Chemical Industries (SECHB). At the same time, it is in open dialogue with the active participation of SEB and GSEE. The common goal is to accelerate the country’s development path and ensure a competitive and resilient economy.
With a view to accelerating development, the conference will be based on the following three main axes:
- 13/11, we work and process common positions, which will essentially contribute to economic development by strengthening the dynamics of businesses in their entire spectrum.
- 15/11, we file and present the results of consultation in the public debate, in the government, as well as the political forces of the country.
- 19/11, we listen and synthesize the opinions of government and political forces, with the aim of formulating an even more unified strategy.
Synthesis of Productive Forces and Consensus
This year’s initiative of E.EN.E. underlines and highlights the added value of cooperation between the productive forces of the place, employers and employees, with a common starting point of strengthening the Greek economy and entrepreneurship. Economic development and the strengthening of entrepreneurship must be at the forefront of re-industrialization, smart, digital, technological, in modern terms, and international competitiveness as a compass – it is the key that leads to prosperity for all. This collective project that E.EN.E. started with the cooperating agencies seeks and aims at the widest possible synthesis and consensus. Therefore, the Conference is open to other agencies and associations that want to participate in this common effort, the exercise of cooperation and composition, from the bottom up.
Central Proposals of E.EN.E. for Sustainable Industrial Development
The Hellenic Association of Entrepreneurs (E.EN.E.) has developed four main proposals, aiming at the re-industrialization in terms of technology and increasing the productivity of the country:
- Zero Marginal Non-Wage Cost
It is proposed to reduce the marginal non-wage cost to businesses and workers who invest in acquiring or upgrading digital and other skills through corresponding certification, and as a result employers will increase wages.
- Reduced Marginal Business Taxation
A scheme of reduced marginal taxation for businesses is proposed in the direction of enhancing their growth dynamics. This strategy aims at facilitating business liquidity and encouraging new investment, thus promoting sustainable growth.
- Gradual Abolition of Advance Tax
The proposal for a planned, gradual abolition of advance tax for the next ten years or more aims to increase the liquidity of businesses and stimulate new investments. This action is expected to boost overall economic growth and support entrepreneurship.
- Gradual Acceleration of Depreciation for Equipment Investments
It is proposed to reduce the payback time of investments made in production equipment, offering strong incentives for further investments that will enhance the productivity and competitiveness of Greek businesses.
