A contract worth 735 million dollars was signed yesterday by Poland with the United States for the supply of JASSM-ER air-to-ground missiles, according to Defence Minister Władysław Kośniak-Kamiz.

Warsaw spends about 4% of its GDP on defence, the highest among NATO member states, and last week announced a deal with the US to deliver a $960 million aerospace reconnaissance system to monitor its northeastern borders.

According to the Polish Ministry of Defence, deliveries of Lockheed Martin’s AGM-158 JASSM-ER (Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile) will take place from 2026 to 2030 and they have a range of about 1,000 km.

Poland already has 370 km range JASSM missiles, part of the armament of its Air Force’s US-made F-16 multi-role fighter aircraft.

Warsaw spends billions of dollars buying military equipment, mainly from the US and South Korea.
