National Guard | Commencement of competition for the recruitment of Professional Soldiers – Information and forms

The Ministry of Defence announced the start of the competition for the recruitment of Professional Soldiers (SYOP) in the National Guard. Applications will be accepted from December 7 until December 23, 2020. 

Those interested, according to the announcement of the Ministry, should properly fill in the relevant Application, which should be submitted by the applicants themselves or their authorized representatives at the District Military Offices or at the Citizen Service Centers of Famagusta (Paralimni), Pelendri and Polis Chrysochous. Applications can also be mailed by registered mail to the District Military Offices. 

The Ministry emphasizes that during the presentation of the applicant or an authorized representative, identity cards must be presented so that the identification of the person can be achieved.

The following certificates must be attached to the application, as specified in the latter:

(1) Copy of both sides of the ID card (the ID card must be presented for verification).

(2) Copy of High School Apolytirion.

(3) Copy of a certificate of very good knowledge of the Greek language (only for graduates of recognized foreign language Secondary Schools), based on the accepted certificates set by the Public Service Committee (see Circular No. 256, dated 15.10.2019, on the website http://www.psc.gov.cy).

Candidates will then be notified via email and / or SMS about the Health Test, the Athletic Test and the Military Test. 

During the Health Test, which is scheduled to start at the end of January, candidates must provide the following:

(1) Full blood count, urea, sugar, creatinine, transaminases, hemoglobin and urine test results.

(2) FACE chest x-ray with doctor’s diagnosis.  

(3) Ophthalmological examination recording the visual acuity and the degree of refractive error of each eye, the presence or absence of discoloration and the presence of disease or condition with doctor’s diagnosis.

(4) Otolaryngological examination and audiogram with doctor’s diagnosis.

(5) Electrocardiogram, with doctor’s diagnosis stating that the candidate may participate in the Sports Test and the Military Test.  

(6) Psychiatric report stating that the candidate does not currently suffer from any mental illness.

(7) Medical certificate from a gynecologist (only for female candidates) that the candidate does not suffer from any gynecological problem.
