National Guard | 17-year-old soldier in intensive care after feeling unwell

A soldier of the 2024 ESSO, who felt unwell yesterday, is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.

In a written statement from the Ministry of Defence, it is stated that at around 08.20 on Friday 12 July, a soldier of 2024 ESSO, after the end of the morning’s physical training, felt unwell and after an examination by the unit’s doctor, it was deemed necessary to transfer him to Nicosia General Hospital.

It is added that the soldier is undergoing appropriate medical care and laboratory tests in the Intensive Care Unit.

According to the announcement, both the Minister of Defence and the Chief of the National Guard visited the soldier and his family.

Finally, the Ministry of Defence states that it will revert with a newer announcement after the medical opinion, informing about the state of the soldier’s health.
