The second meeting of the Security and Defence Dialogue between the Republic of Cyprus and the United States of America took place on June 1, 2023, in Washington.

The bilateral Dialogue was institutionalized in September 2021 at the first meeting held in Nicosia.

During the most recent meeting held at the Pentagon, the two delegations reviewed the significant progress made and the goals achieved, such as the signing of the inclusion of Cyprus in the State Partnership Program (SPP), the participation of National Guard officers in the international military education and training (IMET) program, the conduct of exercises between the Armed Forces of the two countries and the consultations held on international, European and regional security issues of mutual interest.

Furthermore, the next steps and goals for upgrading and deepening the cooperation between the Republic of Cyprus and the United States in the fields of defence and military cooperation were discussed and determined.

According to the relevant announcement, a delegation from the Ministry of Defence also had meetings on May 31 with State Department officials responsible for civil-military affairs and South-East European issues.
