Among others, the Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, spoke about the “Military Service – Opportunity” program, emphasizing the need to make military service more attractive to conscripts.
Nikos Dendias pointed out that by means of acquiring certified skills, they aspire to make military service more attractive and to contribute to social cohesion and economic development, giving new employment opportunities to the country’s youth. The Minister also emphasized that military service in Greece is a key pillar of the National Defence.
Specifically, in his statement, Mr. Dendias said that according to their planning, the program will include both horizontal skills for everyone, such as training in digital skills, and vertical skills of a voluntary nature, such as training in specialties that lead to professional rehabilitation and studying at Lifelong Learning Centers of the Hellenic Armed Forces.
It should be noted that emphasis will be placed on specializations with high demand in the labor market, without a respective supply of specialized professionals.
The certification of the acquisition of skills during military service must have a direct impact on professional rehabilitation, through the scoring in relevant announcements of the public sector, but also through the connection with the labor market in the private sector, with specific actions, the Minister said during his statements to the newspaper “Parapolitika”.
Mr. Dendias finally noted that they wish that the young deal with the new stage of life that lies before them with additional resources after the completion of their military service.
