Dozens of videos and photos are circulating online after the huge explosion at the Port of Beirut around 18:20.
According to initial information, the explosion is not a terrorist act. Information from international media speaks of an explosion in fireworks warehouses.
The two blasts took place near the port and the other near the house of former Prime Minister, Saad Hariri, in the city center.
Several people have been injured or – according to unofficial sources – have lost their lives, while significant damage has been caused to houses near the sea.
The capital is in a chaotic condition as the communications network has been disrupted, while there are power cuts in some areas. The Minister of Health of the country asked the hospitals to mobilize and save the lives of the injured.
