In a video conference attended by their Presidents, the Arab League, the UN, the European Union and the African Union called for the “immediate and unconditional withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries” from Libya.

In a statement issued at the end of a meeting of the so-called “Libyan Quartet” group organized by the Arab League, participants also called for a “full implementation of the arms embargo” imposed on Libya since 2011, which has been regularly violated since then.

The UN estimates the number of foreign troops (mostly from Turkey) and mercenaries (Russians, Syrians, Sudanese and Chadians) deployed in Libya at almost 20,000.
