A man was killed and three others were injured today in a gun attack on a Hamas Palestinian in Jerusalem’s Old City. The perpetrator finally died before he was shot dead by the Israeli police.
This is the second attack in Jerusalem in four days and it took place near one of the gates to the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Israeli Interior Minister, Omar Bar-Lev, said the perpetrator was a member of Hamas’ political party, not the armed one, and used a machine gun in the attack. He noted that the attack was premeditated as the perpetrator’s family went abroad.
Hamas, for its part, confirmed that the man named by Israel as the perpetrator of the attack was a member.
Two civilians were seriously injured in the attack, one of whom succumbed to his injuries, while two police officers were also slightly injured.
