A new rocket attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday 17/3 at a military base near Baghdad, where multinational forces are camping, according to an Iraqi military statement.

This was the third attack that occurred within a week. The rockets hit a military base in Basmaya, 60 kilometers south of Baghdad. At the base, part of a force of the Spanish Brigade was deployed, which is part of the international coalition against jihadists in the US, as well as NATO troops.

Also, at the base were US, British, Canadian and Australian soldiers training the Iraqi army.

Specifically, since the end of October 2019, 24 attacks against US targets in Iraq have occurred. No local organization has claimed responsibility for these attacks, but the US blames attacks on pro-Iranian paramilitary organizations, and most notably, on the Brigades of God’s Army (Katzeb Hezbollah).

For the first time, the organization welcomed the attack, with rockets fired on Wednesday at 11/3 against the Taji base, which resulted in the deaths of two American and one British soldiers.
