Iran will purchase technologically advanced Su-35 fighter jets from Russia.
As announced by Iranian state media, Tehran has reached an agreement with Moscow for the supply of fighter jets.
The Sukhoi-35 fighter jets are technologically acceptable to Iran, which has finalized a contract to purchase them, the Islamic Republic of Iran Radio (IRIB) reported, citing Iran’s UN diplomatic mission.
Moscow has yet to confirm the news and no further details have been released.
Russian President, Vladimir Putin, met last July with Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in Tehran. During the meeting, the two sides confirmed the close ties between the two countries, which are under pressure from the West.
Iran has admitted sending UAVs to Russia, but claims the supply took place before the invasion of Ukraine. Moscow, for its part, denies that its forces are using Iranian UAVs in Ukraine, as reported by Reuters.
