Indonesia and Dassault Aviation have announced that the number of Rafale fighter jets ordered for the Indonesian Air Force has increased to 42, implementing the purchase of 18 more aircraft.

Indonesia signed a framework agreement to acquire 42 Rafale in February 2022 and proceeded to order the first 6 in September of the same year.

It was later followed by the purchase of 18 additional aircraft in August 2023 and the latest announcement sees the procurement of another 18, bringing the total to 42. The first fighters of this type will arrive in Indonesia in 2026 and concern the F4 version of the aircraft, of which 30 are single-seaters and 12 are two-seaters.
