A joint training between Greece and the US on Special Operations was carried out in the broader area of Souda from Saturday 09 to Wednesday 13 September 2023. The said training was held in the context of the overall planning of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS) with regard to the actions of military cooperation between the two countries.

Officers and NCOs of the 1st Paratroopers Squadron of the Special Warfare Command of the HNDGS participated in the joint training, while on the US side, the exercise was held with the participation of Explosive Disposal Teams and 1 MH-60S helicopter.

According to a relevant announcement, during the exercise combat search and rescue (CSAR) and Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED) neutralization drills were carried out.

The above contributed to the promotion of the level of operational readiness, combat capability, and the exchange of know-how in the planning and execution of Special Operations between the participants, highlighting the long-standing cooperation of the two countries in the field of Special Warfare.
