The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus recently welcomed the participation of Cypriot small and medium enterprises in five more proposals of the European Defence Industrial Development Program (EDIDP) of the European Commission. This is another important success towards the further development of the Cyprus Defence and Security ecosystem.
Among the funded projects is the “Future Indirect fiRes European Solution (FIRES)” program, which aims to develop next-generation ammunition.
The Cypriot company ADDITESS ADVANCED INTEGRATED TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS & SERVICES LTD is part of the program, among 12 countries and 18 companies.

More generally, artillery modernization can be included in the priorities set by the Member States of the European Union (EU) through the EDIDP program. As part of the actions approved and supported by the EU, both new weapon systems and new generation ammunition can be developed. This program is, therefore, part of these efforts.
The aim of this program is to start the development of a European family of 155 mm high-precision guided projectiles and rockets. This is a study that will last 24 months and will be fully funded by the EU (3.5 million euros). The French company Nexter Systems coordinates the program.
In the first stage, the program concerns the development of next-generation 155 mm projectiles and rockets based on common technological solutions. In the process, the program will be further enriched by incorporating advanced ideas, new technologies, and innovations for the benefit of operational requirements aiming at the development of next-generation artillery.
In practice, the program maximizes interoperability and stimulates intra-European cooperation and mobility for the benefit of economies of scale, reduced life-cycle costs, and European autonomy and security of supply.
ADDITESS is a small and medium-sized enterprise based in Cyprus, founded in 2011. It is a scientific, consulting, and research company, the purpose of which is to conduct theoretical and applied research and to produce studies, at a strategic and tactical level, on issues concerning security policies, critical infrastructure protection, transport, and cargo security, border management, and generally the development of state-of-the-art security solutions in the above areas.
The company continues its successful course with its participation in the European Defence Industrial Development Program of the European Commission representing the Cypriot defence ecosystem and innovation.
