EOKA fighter Antonakis Papaloukas passed away, after his long hospitalization

Fighter Antonakis Papaloukas from Mesa Chorio, who had been hospitalized since last May, passed away on Sunday at the age of 78.

According to the Police, the 78-year-old was hospitalized at the Limassol General Hospital and died yesterday at 12:00. He was injured in a road accident on May 7, 2020, on Griva Digeni Street in Konia, when he was hit, while driving his motorcycle, by a vehicle driven by a 64-year-old British permanent resident of Paphos. The 64-year-old driver of the vehicle, who stayed on the scene and cooperated, was tested for alcohol consumption with zero indication.

Initially, Papaloukas was transported by ambulance to the General Hospital of Paphos, he was intubated while, due to the seriousness of his condition, he was transferred to the General Hospital of Nicosia.

The causes of death of the 78-year-old will be examined upon the autopsy of the deceased.

It is noted that the electrician Antonakis Papaloukas had been active both in the struggle of EOKA 1955-59 and during the revolt with the Turks, while he was seriously injured in battle on March 9, 1964.
