The International Defence and Security Exhibition DEFEA 2023 is now held for a second day with high-level international contacts.
The Minister of National Defence of Greece, Nikos Panagiotopoulos, who attended the exhibition booths for a second day, had a 45-minute meeting with the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus, Michalis Giorgallas, during which they discussed the joint defence of the 2 countries.
Further, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Nikos Hardalias, signed a memorandum of understanding with his Slovak counterpart M. Majer, in the presence of Mr. Panagiotopoulos.
Mr. Hardalias also had meetings with the official military delegations of Armenia, Ghana and the United Arab Emirates.
Also, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Konstantinos Floros, had an official meeting at DEFEA with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Central African Republic, General Zephirin Mamadou.
DEFEA 2023 was also attended by the head of the main opposition party SYRIZA’s Defence Group, Giorgos Tsipras. The group included former Minister of National Defence Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis, former Minister of Citizen Protection Nikos Toskas and former Deputy Minister of National Defence Panagiotis Rigas.
During today’s DEFEA 2023, the Minister of Development and Investments, Adonis Georgiadis, had an open discussion on the Greek defence industry organized by the Hellenic Manufacturers of Defence Material Association (SEKPY). Mr. Georgiadis also attended the Exhibitors’ Booths.
Mr. Francois Arbault, Director General for Defence Industry and Space of the European Commission also gave a speech by presenting the actions of the European Defence Fund to strengthen research and development programs.
Finally, NATO’s Directorate of Defence Investments and Technological Research (DDIT) organised a speech on the Greek innovation system and the Innovation Fund of the North Atlantic Alliance.
