The Ministry of Defence spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Christos Pieri, made statements to journalists Lazaros Mavros, Marios Poullados and Christos Michalaros of Radio Proto regarding Officers’ and NCOs’ promotions.
Mr. Pieri stated that some promotions will be signed today, so within the week a number of promoted Officers/NCOs will be informed.
“There are around 500 promotions for Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) and around 190 promotions for Officers to be signed within the year,” said Mr. Pieri.
Mr. Pieri stated that the Ministry of Defence is acting in the National Guard executives’ best interest. “We witness the problems the National Guard executives are facing and we put our efforts.”
Regarding the injustice related to female Non-Commissioned Officers, Mr. Pieri stated that: “There was also a problem related to female colleagues as there was no common regulation for both men and women, however this has been consolidated. Everyone has now been categorised, we are trying to put this equality into practice and a large number of NCOs will be promoted.”
