Andreas Pentaras | It is difficult for the European Union to impose sanctions on Turkey – VIDEO
Specifically, Mr. Pentaras referred to the Greek-Turkish relations before the resumption of the dialogue between Greece and Turkey, the balance of power after the acquisition of German submarines by Turkey, the change of guard in the White House and President Biden’s possible approach to Turkey and the Cyprus problem, but also the likelihood of the imposition of sanctions on Turkey by the EU.
“In my view, as far as the European Union is concerned, the likelihood of imposing sanctions on Turkey is far-fetched. Turkey will argue that it withdrew Barbaros from the Cypriot EEZ and I believe that it will be very difficult for the European Union to impose sanctions under these circumstances.”
