The motor sports competition team of the Hellenic Police was seen a few days ago in the city of Kalamata.
The race of the “patrol vehicle” of the Hellenic Police started on May 17 in the city Pyrgos in Ilia, continued to the Messinian capital, birthplace of the distinguished driver of races, Police Officer Yannis Plagos, with his high achievements and passion for distinctions and races.
Yiannis Plagos and Alkis Rentis, after their participation in events inside and outside the Greek borders, with top ones in previous years, those of the Acropolis Rally under the emblematic rock of the Acropolis and the great Le Mans of France, the oldest active race of motor sports in the world in endurance racing, with the fastest duo taking first place in 2022, have set the standards high.
The experiential action on the road
In the morning hours, the racing team was at the “San NICOLAS” kart track and welcomed 200 Grace 3 students both from public and private education.
In the experiential activity, the driver and co-driver talked to the students about the conditions of safe driving, presented the equipment of the crew of the racing vehicle and then with the racing Peugeot 208, proceeded to a demonstration of skills inside the track.
During the demonstration, Police Officer Christina Marassidis, who had previously welcomed the children and introduced her team, with studies in counseling and experience in road traffic accidents, spoke to the students and explained the function of protective gear.
The team members urged the students to visit the go-kart track with their parents and become familiarized with the wheels. After the driver and passenger provided a rich demonstration to the enthusiastic audience, the students entered the track with conventional vehicles and learned about passive driving, testing the correct position of the co-driver and the passenger themselves.
At the same time, they were photographed in the racing car and created groups with the racing team, where they talked about driving issues, but also issues concerning teenagers.
