Yesterday, Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, replaced the special operations commander for the second time in a year.
For the first time since 1981, a US submarine entered Korean waters and arrived at the port of Busan.
The Ohio-class USS Kentucky, known as ‘Boomer’, is capable of launching nuclear-powered ballistic missiles. Its presence in South Korea is a symbolic show of strength against its aggressive neighbor in the North.
South Korea and the United States will respond decisively to North Korea’s escalating nuclear threats through both the Nuclear Weapons Advisory Group and the frequent deployment of strategic weapons, including ballistic missile submarines, said Yoon Suk-yeol, President of South Korea.
The United States sent the submarine in response to North Korea’s continuous missile tests. In fact, the presence of the USS Kentucky in the country is more symbolic, as there is no room for surprise, since the submarine in question can engage targets from an extremely long distance and does not need to be that close.
In any case, this is a historic decision by the United States that wants to send a clear message of deterrence to North Korea.
