Camero-Tech – a member of the SK Group – is a company, which specializes in the manufacture of ultra-wideband (UWB) micro-power radar systems to provide Sense Through The Wall (STTW) capabilities.
Following the devastating earthquake in southeastern Turkey, the company supplied the Xaver™ 400 and Xaver™ 100 systems in the search and rescue mission carried out by the SAR Home Front Command of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF).
According to the company, these systems are capable of detecting the breathing of living people buried under rubble and are part of a comprehensive search and rescue kit from the company, which is fully equipped with Camero-Tech’s STTW radar imaging systems, enabling search and rescue teams to detect survivors in natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and fires.
In fact, according to Camero’s CEO and founder, Amir Beeri, this is a dual-use technology, deployed in both military and law enforcement missions. It is not the first time the system has been used in cases of natural disasters, since it was also deployed to locate and rescue survivors after the 2017 earthquake in Mexico.
Camero’s system deploys in less than a minute, allowing forces to move agilely even in harsh environments, and to locate life under debris and collapsed buildings. Indicatively, the kit contains two Camero Xaver™ 100 systems, one Xaver™ 400 and one XaverNet™ along with various rescue accessories. More specifically:
The Xaver™ 100 is a compact, handheld detector and tracker that provides reliable primary information on the existence of live objects. It facilitates faster go/no-go decision-making when searching in major disaster areas.
The Xaver™ 400 is a compact radar-based device that provides accurate, real-time, mission-critical information on live and static objects, indicating their location within a structure. It also provides simultaneous detection of static and moving objects.
The XaverNet™ is a remote wireless ToughPad that simultaneously controls and monitors up to four Xaver™ systems, enabling real-time visual data and data recording/playback in multiple locations within the disaster area. It is the force multiplier that speeds up the process of finding survivors. The critical data can also be used for post-mission analysis and training.
We had the opportunity to view Camero’s systems at SK’s pavilion at DEFEA 2021, which are expected to be on display at this year’s DEFEA 2023 to be held on May 9-11, 2023.
