Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peshkov, reiterated on Monday that Russia has no plans to use nuclear weapons in the war in Ukraine.
Speaking to the American network PBS, he stated that no one is thinking of using, (…) (not even considering) nuclear weapons. He added that there is no doubt that all of Russia’s goals in Ukraine will be achieved. He also stressed that any development in the operation is by no means a reason for using nuclear weapons.
“We have a security rationale that states very clearly that we can and will indeed use nuclear weapons only when there is a threat to our country in order to eliminate the threat,” he explained. “Let us distinguish these two things, I mean the existence of our country and the special military operation in Ukraine. They are not related,” Peshkov added.
