National Guard General Staff (GEEF) | Joint Exercise with the Indonesian Navy

In the framework of the cooperation between the National Guard General Staff and the Armed Forces of friendly countries, the Naval Command, in cooperation with the Indonesian Navy, conducted a Passing Exercise (PASSEX) in view of the mooring of the Indonesian Corvette KRI SULTAN ISKANDAR MUDA at the Limassol port.

In the exercise, which took place during the evening hours of January 31, 2022, in the sea area south of Limassol, participated the Indonesian Corvette and the National Guard’s Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) IOANNIDIS. 

The goals that were set, as well as the objective of the exercise, included the interoperability of the participants through the execution of Tactical Movements – Advanced Maneuvers and Formations as well as communication drills.

Also, in the context of the customary activities carried out during the mooring of the Corvette in Limassol, the Navy Commander, Captain Dimitrios Masouras, met in a very cordial atmosphere on Sunday, January 30, 2022, on the Indonesian vessel, with Commander Abdul Haris and the Defence Attaché of Indonesia in the Republic of Cyprus, Captain Aminuddin Albek.

The international exercise, codenamed “CYP / IND -01/2022” is the first joint training between Naval Units of the two countries and is part of the network of international cooperation of the National Guard with the Armed Forces of friendly countries present in the region. 

In addition, it enabled the personnel of the Naval Command to train with Indonesian Navy personnel, thus promoting interoperability and developing relationships in terms of maritime cooperation.
