The Cyprus Army Officers Association (SAKS) expresses satisfaction with the recent voting of the Armed Forces’ working hours by the House of Representatives.
The Association’s announcement follows:
Nicosia, November 25, 2021
CYPRUS ARMY OFFICERS ASSOCIATION (SAKS) ANNOUNCEMENT ON VOTING OF “WORKING HOURS, TRAINING AND SPECIAL DUTIES” (THE ARMY/NATIONAL GUARD OF THE REPUBLIC REGULATIONS 2021) BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
The Cyprus Army Officers Association (SAKS) wishes to inform its members that one of the primary, keen and timeless goals of the SAKS Board of Directors regarding their employment terms has been achieved today, November 25, 2021.
The House of Representatives, in today’s session, voted in favour of the relevant regulations entitled “The Army of the Republic (Working Hours, Training and Special Duties) Regulations, 2021” and “The National Guard (Working Hours, Training and Special Duties) Regulations, 2021”.
In this regard, the said voting is a milestone and justifies the permanent positions and timeless efforts of the current and the previous SAKS Board for the establishment of Army Officers’ “Working Hours” based on modern perceptions and the new army development, within a regulatory legal framework where everyone’s rights, of the Amy and National Guard members of the Republic, are safeguarded.
The SAKS Board, as well as its members, feels justified by these positive developments, as the leading democratic institution, through which the people are represented, the House of Representatives, listened to the constant demands of the military and responded to the issue with a positive outcome.
We would like to thank the Honorable Minister of Defence, the Committee on Defence as well as the plenary session of the Parliament for their decisive resolutions, so that the above regulations are now a brilliant historical event for the family of the National Guard.
Nonetheless, we would also like to thank the members of SAKS, who have actively participated and supported the institution and the Board of the Cyprus Army Officers Association for years.
