The Royal Navy of Thailand strengthens its unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) fleet with additional Austrian Schiebel Camcopter S-100s.
The country’s parliament approved a $ 18.38 million budget in August for the procurement of these systems. The Camcopter S-100s have been used by the country’s Navy since 2020, mainly for surveillance and reconnaissance missions operating on the country’s shores along with frigate formations.

The Camcopter S-100 is equipped with enhanced mapping, area surveying and distance estimation capabilities. It also has the ability to present a hyperspectral map through corresponding sensors, especially useful for coastal and marine areas. In addition, its EO / IR system allows the control center to have a direct and time-coordinated image with data categorization and identification of moving and static objects. It can also collect data from communication systems and electronic signals.
The Camcopter S-100’s intelligence-gathering capabilities make it an option especially for patrols in coastal areas as well as on land borders. In addition, the fact that it has a vertical take-off system reduces its space and platform requirements.
