The Libyan National Army (LNA) unveiled its “new” artillery – VIDEO
The Libyan National Army (LNA) of the self-proclaimed general Khalifa Haftar released a video on social media a week ago, displaying its training activities including, among others, live fire shelling with “new” armaments, the South African 155 mm G5 gun-howitzer and the Serbian-made Morava modular, multi-calibre, multi-pod, self-propelled multiple rocket launcher (LRSVM).
The 155mm G5 towed gun-howitzer made by Denel systems has a range between 30 and 50 km (with VLAP ammunition) and a crew of 5. It has an auxiliary power unit (apu) for short tactical movements and, according to the manufacturer, it can be ready for fire in 2 minutes. According to Janes, the UAE, which is known to be a close ally of Khalifa Haftar, has procured the system from South Africa as well as the latest self-propelled version of the system, the G6.
The Morava system, designed by the Serbian Military Technical Institute (VTI), allows the use of rockets of various calibers. More specifically, it can launch 12-16 rockets with 107, 122 and 128 mm in a range between 8 and 40 km, including the rockets used by Plamen A, Plamen B, Oganj and Grad systems. The Morava version found in the LNA video next to the BM-21 Grad launcher is based on a FAP 1118 4×4 military truck.

The LNA probably received the Morava launchers and G5 howitzers from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) before the imposition of the arms embargo by the United Nations on Libya.
