An operation of the Antiterrorism Unit has been underway since Wednesday afternoon in Athens after the detection of a hideout with explosives in the area of Koukaki.

As announced by the Police, the Antiterrorism Unit (D.A.E.E.V) arrested three locals (two men, aged 38 and 42 and a 36-year-old woman), who are accused of possessing weapons and explosives.

In particular, yesterday, a warehouse was raided at 16 Anastasiou Zini Street, where gelatodynamite bobbins, a small amount of C4 explosive, detonators, timers and Kalashnikov bullets were found, according to police sources. The warehouse, according to the same information, was rented a year ago by one of the two men, who had previously been accused as an accomplice of Vassilis Paleokostas, while in a house, where an investigation followed, the second man – also known to the Police – and his girlfriend were arrested as two pistols were found. There are also digital findings, which are being investigated along with the other ones confiscated in the Forensic Service.

According to the police, the two men are moving in the anti-authoritarian space.

There are currently four home surveys in Attica, with the completion of which there will be a detailed briefing. Greek Police officials estimate that the case is linked to a terrorist organization operating in Greece and evidence of its identity is being investigated. It is noted that the three arrested have not been accused of participating in the organization so far.
