MBDA, the multinational leading European missile systems manufacturer and one of the largest worldwide, presented for the 1st time in Cyprus the ENFORCER innovative weapon system during the BATTLEFIELD REDEFiNED 2024, International Defence and Security Conference.
Designed to meet modern battlefield and special forces requirements, ENFORCER exemplifies MBDA’s commitment to providing advanced solutions that bridge the gap between non-guided anti-tank and advanced guided anti-tank missile systems.
ENFORCER has been developed in the framework of a multinational program of the MBDA in Germany, while to date it is one of the largest self-funded programs of the company.
The development phase included multiple guided-missile tests by the German Army (Bundeswehr), where ENFORCER missiles successfully engaged targets at ranges between 1000 and 2000 meters. The overall capabilities of the ENFORCER led the German Armed Forces (the 1st supplier to date) to procure the system named “LWM 1800+” (Leichtes Wirkmittel 1800+), which translates as “Light Anti-Tank 1800+” (the 1800+ from the range).

According to the company, ENFORCER combines the lightweight, small size, and ease of use of unguided anti-tank missiles with the increased range and accuracy of guided anti-tank missiles. This combination ensures that operators can effectively engage targets, even in dynamic and demanding scenarios.

Weighing only 12 kg, including the sighting system, the ENFORCER is designed for use by a single operator at the platoon level. Minimal training requirements, low maintenance, and simulator training capabilities make the system an accessible and practical choice for forces operating in diverse environments.

A range of over 2000 meters and advanced targeting capabilities (compatible with Hensoldt FLV5.5×30 Dynahawk or the Aimpoint FCS14-RE sight systems) ensure accuracy and versatility, whether the mission involves combat in urban areas, special forces operations, or engagements in an open field.
One of the key features of the ENFORCER is the innovative multi-effect warhead, capable of engaging both hard and “soft” targets. Multiple fuse options—immediate impact, delayed impact, and airburst—allow operators to tailor the weapon’s performance to the needs of the battlefield.

In addition, “Lock-on-Before-Launch” and “Fire-and-Forget” technologies enhance operational efficiency and reduce exposure to hostile fire.

MBDA also introduced the ENFORCER X variant, an adaptation of the original system that incorporates an anti-tank warhead. This development reflects the company’s modular design philosophy, allowing the system to be easily adapted to new operational requirements without major changes to logistics support, training, or operational concepts.
The flexibility of the ENFORCER system is also enhanced by its ability to launch from confined spaces such as the inside of buildings and its reduced footprint.

MBDA’s participation in the BATTLEFIELD REDEFiNED 2024 conference provided a unique opportunity to showcase ENFORCER’s capabilities, with videos of real-world testing as well as operational scenarios in which it can successfully respond either as a stand-alone system or as part of a larger network with anti-tank systems (i.e., the AKERON) and network-centric flow of information (i.e.,via data obtained from drones).
