HAGS | Opening Ceremony of the “OLYMPIC COOPERATION – 24” Exercise

On Saturday, November 9, 2024, the opening ceremony of the transnational Exercise “OLYMPIC COOPERATION – 24/OLYMPIC COOPERATION – 24” took place.

The Exercise will be held from Monday 11 to Friday 22 November 2024 as part of the international activities of the Hellenic Army between units of the Armed Forces of Greece, Albania, Armenia, Austria, Bulgaria, France, Georgia, of Jordan, and Cyprus, as well as the participation of Allied observers and partners, at the headquarters of the XXV Armored Brigade in Petrochori, Xanthi.

During the exercise, the participants will practice tactical-level defensive and offensive scenarios, including live fire, with the aim of enhancing the level of operational readiness, combat capability, understanding, exchange of know-how, and interoperability between the participating forces.

Present at the opening ceremony were the Commander of the 4th Army Corps (4th SS) “THRACE,” Lt. Gen. Stavros Papastathopoulos, the Commander of the XX TTHM “MACEDONIA CAVALRY DIVISION,” Major General Ilias Kostakis, and the Commander of the XXV TTHT “2nd CAVALRY REGIMENT-EFESSOS,” Brigadier Ilias Tsevdos.
