World War II British veteran Tom Moore has raised € 32 million from a fundraiser for the National Health System, celebrating his 100th birthday.

Captain Tom collected the money while at home, after making 100 laps in his garden and becoming an honorary colonel.

At the reception in his honor, for his 100th birthday, the RAF flew over the area, with the legendary World War II aircraft “Spitfire” and “Hurricane”.

At the celebrations, Captain Tom said all those who donated were “wonderful” as the fund reached 30 million on Thursday morning.

Army Chief of Staff General Sir Mark Carleton-Smith called Captain Tom “an inspiring role person.”
