With a NAVTEX issued by the Research and Rescue Coordination Center (KSED), the Republic of Cyprus demands that the Turkish ship “Barbaros” immediately ends its illegal activities within Cyprus’ EEZ and continental shelf.

The NAVTEX notes that the Turkish NAVTEX for the research surveys of “Barbaros” and its support vessels “TANUX 1” and “APOLLO MOON” in the Eastern Mediterranean until February 16 refers to an unauthorized and illegal operation in the EEZ and Continental Shelf of the Republic of Cyprus.

“This action is a violation of international law and maritime safety procedures and is also a criminal offense under the laws of the Republic of Cyprus,” it said.

The Republic of Cyprus, the NAVTEX adds, demands that “Barbaros” immediately stops its illegal actions.
