The new fire that broke out near the village of Giolou in Paphos District has been brought under control, while the one that broke out in the communities of Amargetis and Pentalia is still in progress.
In his statements to CNA, the Spokesman of the Cyprus Fire Service, Andreas Kettis, stated that three fire trucks with their crews were sent to extinguish the fire.

In addition, he continued, two helicopters have been instructed to proceed with water drops in the area until the arrival of ground forces.
In the meantime, regarding the fire in the villages of Amargeti and Pentalia, Mr. Kettis stated that it is still ablaze.
The fire, as he said, burns tall vegetation and a number of trees as well as pines. The fire brigade, said Mr. Kettis, continues the efforts to extinguish it.
He added that as the fire was spreading, it was necessary to evacuate a number of houses in the area of the village of Pentalia.
