From November 14-18, 2022, the small-scale special operations exercise “SILVER SPEAR – 2022” was jointly organized by the National Guard and the Armed Forces of Armenia. The exercise took place on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus with the participation of special operations personnel of the National Guard’s Special Forces Command and the Armenian Armed Forces.

According to the announcement of the National Guard General Staff (GEEF), the scenario of the exercise included various types of individual and group firing as well as personnel training on First Aid provision on the battlefield.

The exercise, which is part of the Bilateral Defence Cooperation Program between the Republic of Cyprus and Armenia, is considered particularly beneficial, as it provides the opportunity for the special operations personnel of the National Guard to train together with corresponding personnel of the Armenian Armed Forces, thus promoting interoperability and highlighting the excellent relations between the Armed Forces of the two countries.
