Serbia has become the first European country to operationalise Chinese-made FK-3 air defence missile systems.
In fact, relevant footage was released by officers of the 250th Air Defence Brigade after extensive evaluations of their operational performance.
The Serbian Ministry of Defence announced that the Air Force now possesses the FK-3 air defence missile system, significantly enhancing the country’s ability to monitor and secure its airspace. This acquisition underscores Belgrade’s ongoing efforts to modernize its military equipment.
It is noted that the FK-3 type air defence missile systems are the configuration of the HQ-22 type air defence systems of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, which has been developed for export to third countries and is considered equivalent to the US Patriot and the Russian S-300.
With the capacity to launch up to 12 missiles, the air defence system can intercept up to six targets simultaneously at a range exceeding 100 km, such as aircraft, helicopters, and missile systems.
Serbia received the FK-3 air defence systems in 2022, and according to analysts, it is the largest supply of Chinese military equipment on European soil.
