New invasion of “Barbaros” in the Cypriot EEZ since dawn | Photo
Early in the morning, the Turkish research vessel “Barbaros” entered the area bound by Turkey with an illegal Navtex, within the Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), according to CNA.
According to the Navtex issued by Turkey, this area is located southeast of Cavo Greco and includes parts of blocks 2, 3 and 13 of Cyprus’ EEZ.
According to the usual practice, immediately after the issuance of the Turkish Navtex two days ago, the Republic of Cyprus issued an antinavtex which characterizes the Turkish one as illegal and states that it violates the sovereign rights of the Republic.

It is noted that “Barbaros” has already been in this area for “research” purposes from December 2019 to May 2020, having covered the entire area.
“Barbaros” is accompanied by a Turkish warship and a second support ship.
