Following the order of the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Panagiotopoulos, the Greek military factories have modified their production capabilities in order to assist the national efforts in countering COVID-19. The military factories will cover the needs of both the Armed Forces and the society.
For this purpose, the following military plants will change their production capabilities as follows:
-441 Sanitary Warehouse Base has started the production of antiseptic aqueous solution from confiscated quantities of ethyl alcohol, with an initial design of 20,000 bottles of 400 milliliters to cover the needs of the Armed Forces, 1,500 bottles of 400 milliliters to meet the needs of the Cypriot National Guard General Staff (NGGS) and 13,500 bottles of one liter for the Ministry of Health.
A thousand (1000) bottles from the produced batches will be provided for the needs of “Smile of the Child”. 441 Sanitary Warehouse Base operates two production lines every eight hours, producing 1,200 bottles of 400 milliliters per day or 5,000 bottles of one liter to meet the logistics needs arising from the integrated supply chain support, designed by the General Staff of the Hellenic Ministry of Defence.
– The 700 Military Factory has begun producing a number of surgical masks to meet the requirements and needs of both the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Health. Fifty thousand (50,000) masks are expected to be produced by the end of this week, with the Factory acquiring raw materials for the construction of another 100,000 masks next week.
-At 691 Industrial Base Factory, a production line is planning to be operated in order to meet the needs of liquid antiseptic soaps and sodium hypochlorite solutions.
