Lockheed Martin is developing laser weapon systems to protect soldiers on the battlefield wherever they are, at sea, in the air and on land.
Combined with the integration of specialized platforms, these systems are designed to defeat the growing range of threats against military forces and infrastructure.
Lockheed Martin’s ALADIN, ADAM and ATHENA laser technology systems are capable, according to the company, to destroy among others rockets, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), small attack boat and lightweight ground vehicles with a range of about 1600m.
As fiber laser power levels increase, these systems will be able to disable larger threats and do so across greater distances. In combination with kinetic energy systems, the lasers can serve as a force multiplier.
