A major explosion at a command post of the Iraqi Army took place today Saturday about 50 kilometers south of Baghdad, causing an alert in the region.
The incident was announced by the pro-Iranian militia Hasd al-Shaabi (“Popular Mobilization Forces”).
The explosion killed one militant and wounded six others, hospital sources cited by the Reuters news agency said.
The Al Arabiya network reported that the base was the target of a missile attack, however, it remains unclear who launched it.
The US Central Command, or CENTCOM, denied any involvement.
An Israeli official, who spoke to the US network CNN on condition of anonymity, assured that Israel was not responsible for the blast.
