An incredible incident occurred in Heraklion when a fisherman caught a warplane with his nets.

According to information from Cretapost, the incident occurred several days ago in the marine area of Linoperamata, with the fisherman going out to sea to cast his nets in order to fish.

When he finished his fishing, he raised the nets, and instead of seeing fish, he saw parts of an aircraft. He immediately notified the competent authorities, along with officers from the port department, to rush to the scene and conduct the first autopsy.

Then a whole operation was set up to raise the aircraft from the bottom, and it was established that it is a warplane of the Second World War.

After the wreckage of the old aircraft—two wings minus the fuselage—was recovered by crane, the process of assessing the findings began to give answers as to where they will be taken.

It is worth noting that the Ephorate of Marine Antiquities has been informed, while an echelon of the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the services of the Hellenic Air Force, is evaluating the findings.
