Defence Redefined
27/02/2025

Hellas Sat has received a licence from the Director of the Department of Electronic Communications of the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy of Cyprus to install and operate a Digital Terrestrial Television Network for period from 1 December 2025 to 9 November 2040.

This authorisation grants the exclusive right to broadcast four (4) Single Frequency Networks, with two (2) broadcasting channels—one transmitting from the Troodos area and the other from the Famagusta area—amounting to a total of eight (8) television broadcasting channels.

According to the technical specifications and the special conditions outlined in the tender notice, the transmission protocol of the new network will be DVB-T2. This enhances speed and, consequently, the transmission capacity of each television single-frequency network, enabling terrestrial television broadcasting of ultra-high-definition (HD TV) and ultra-high definition (4K TV) programmes.
