The Hellenic Aerospace, Security and Defence Industries Group (HASDIG), firmly believing in the potential of growth and extroversion of the Greek defence industry, took responsibility for the organization Hellenic Pavilion at the International Defence Industry Exhibition EDEX 2023 held in Cairo, December 4-7, under the auspices of the Ministry of National Defence and the support of Enterprise Greece and the General Directorate of Defence Investments and Armaments (GDDIA).
As the Group notes, EDEX, characterized as one of the largest international exhibitions in the field of defence and security, and the largest held in Africa, is an excellent opportunity for Greek defence companies to present their services and highlight their products and capabilities to industry professionals in Egypt and the wider region, but also to the global military community, looking for new partnerships and opportunities to develop their activities.
Specifically, 8 Greek companies participated as exhibitors in this year’s event,
including DEFEA, which highlighted the latest developments in the defence industry sector: the companies Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI), Hellenic Defence Systems (HDS), MILTECH, S.A.S TECHNOLOGY, SCYTALYS, THEON SENSORS, UCANDRONE.
In the context of EDEX, HASDIG made a series of contacts with respective international defence industry associations, but also government officials, while the agenda of the contacts was marked by visits to the Hellenic pavilion by a number of official delegations, such as the Chief of the Armed Forces of Egypt, the Chief of the Air Force of Egypt, the Chief of the Armed Forces of Cyprus, the Minister of Defence of Zimbabwe, the Chief of Air Defence of Armenia, Armed Forces Missions of Rwanda, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Oman.
The contribution of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, represented by the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice-Admiral Ioannis Drymousis, was very important in strengthening the contacts of the companies of the Hellenic Pavilion alongside the contribution of the Ambassador of Greece to Egypt, Mr. Nikolaos Papageorgiou, and of the Defence Attaché of Greece in Egypt, Captain Michalis Tsiligakis.
As the President of HASDIG, Mr. Nikolaos Papatsas, pointed out: “The organization of the presence of the Hellenic Pavilion at EDEX 2023 by HASDIG aims to highlight and promote the Greek Defence Industry and to strengthen the extroversion of Greek defence companies by creating opportunities not only for information on the latest technological developments in the field of defence and security, but mainly for international collaborations and synergies with leading defence industries.”
