The results of today’s elections reveal the easy formation of New Democracy’s independent government and 8 parties in the Parliament.

Out of 96.57% of the votes across the Greek territory, participation is at 52.7%.

New Democracy secured 40.55% and 158 seats, while SYRIZA is limited to 17.84% with 48 seats. PASOK – Movement for Change secures 32 seats. These are followed by KKE with 7.67% (20 seats), Spartans (12 seats), Hellenic Solution (12 seats), Niki (10 seats), and Course of Freedom (8 seats).

The names relating to the new government scheme regarding the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Defence, Citizen Protection, Civil Protection and Climate Change, Immigration, and Asylum, Shipping and Insular Policy, and Family and Demographic Policy, according to information not yet verified, are as follows:

  • Giorgos Gerapetritis: most likely to take over the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Nikos Dendias: Information indicates that he is transferred from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Ministry of National Defence.
  • Niki Kerameos: Her name has been mentioned in respect of the Ministry of Interior in the last few hours.
  • Miltiadis Varvitsiotis: It seems that he is taking over the Ministry of Citizen Protection.
  • Vassilis Kikilias: He will probably take over the Ministry of Civil Protection and Climate Change.
  • Dimitris Kairides: His name is mentioned in respect of the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum.
  • Notis Mitarakis: to possibly take over the Ministry of Shipping and Insular Policy.
  • Sofia Zacharaki: She will probably take over the newly-established Ministry of Family and Demographic Policy.
