Cyprus | More than 900 Syrians withdrew asylum applications in one month

The Deputy Minister of Immigration and International Protection, Nicholas Ioannidis, in a post on the “X” platform, referred to the withdrawal of asylum applications or revocations of international protection status for the purpose of repatriation by Syrians in Cyprus in the period after the fall of the Assad regime in Syria.

Specifically, the Deputy Minister of Immigration states that the flow of Syrians to the offices of the Deputy Ministry of Immigration of the Republic of Cyprus continues. Within a month, more than 900 Syrians have either withdrawn their asylum applications or revoked their international protection status with a view to repatriation. 

The Deputy Minister also states that approximately 300 Syrians have left Cyprus. The post concludes by stating that the officials of the Deputy Ministry continue to work intensively to facilitate those Syrians who wish to return to their homeland.
