On 12 and 13 December, 2024, the Hellenic Centre of Defence Innovation (HCDI) organised the first French-Hellenic Defence Innovation Symposium in collaboration with the corresponding French Agency for Defence Innovation.
The Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, announced the start of the work, underscoring the need to provide the armed forces with the most modern technological means in order to fulfil their mission and ensure peace.
The French Ambassador to Greece, Laurence Auer, thanked the Greek authorities for their cooperation and pointed out France’s willingness to invest in strengthening defence industries at the national level for the benefit of Europe’s defence.
Mr. Dendias and Mrs. Auer expressed their satisfaction with the bilateral defence relationship between Greece and France, highlighting the importance of the Strategic Partnership signed in September 2021, as well as the increasing number of military cooperation activities on land, at sea, and in the air.
Furthermore, Greece signed an Agreement for the use of the French CSO satellite network in the presence of the Minister and the Ambassador, strengthening bilateral cooperation in this field as well.
The Symposium of December 12 and 13, 2024, brought together French and Greek research and funding bodies, with an active role in promoting defence innovation, as well as companies from the two countries that are protagonists in new technologies, especially dual-use, military, and non-military.
The proceedings Symposium were an opportunity to create new synergies between the two national ecosystems in order to make their ability to develop new solutions even more dynamic that will give the Greek and French armed forces the necessary supplies in view of the challenges of the future.
